Shaun of the Dead

Truly wonderful movie, witty, romantic, touching, even scary, combining the off-beat humour of The Office with gently moaning, flesh-chomping zombies straight out of movies like Dawn of the Dead/Night of the Living Dead. Everyman heroes, tea, cricket bats, a world where the solution to everything, even Judgment Day, is going down to the pub for a bit...I think Im going to watch it again today. Have been scaring Stoob shitless all around the house by doing that old-fashioned zombie moan-and-stagger around him. Am thinking of doing it to the girl in the flat across, who comes out and dances in item-girl fashion whenever we go to the terrace.

Interesting, this use of zombie movies as social commentary. Judging by the poster, this is more of the same. Back in the 1970s some very witty zombie films were made with the main characters trapped in malls, surrounded by zombies - literally. (The mall culture, with its attendant ills, had started booming then and the analogy was lost on no one.)

You would probably want to watch this British comedy series called Spaced, it's by the same team that did Shaun of the Dead, and it's dripping with trivia and references to popular culture. And yeah, it's hilarious!
